Gone to Mountain Man Rendezvous

 

William Lewis DeAtley, husband, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully Jan. 11, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer, with family and friends by his side.

He was born April 17, 1946 in Grand Junction, Colorado, son of Claude Newland DeAtley and Maude Iva (Reed) DeAtley.

William is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Patricia, and 3 children Robert Ray of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Heather  (Berry) Kroeger of Greeley, Colorado, Donald DeAtley of Sterling, Colorado, and a sister Rita (Jamie) Pinkston of Calhoun, Missouri, and a sister and brother in law John and Melissa Ambrose of Iliff, Colorado. Many nieces and nephews of Utah, Missouri, and Texas, and many close friends in Sterling and across the U.S.A..

William spent 22 years in the Army. He received 5 purple hearts and 14 medals of Honor. He spent 4 years in Vietnam and served oversea tours in Germany and Korea. Upon retirement, he was an over the road trucker for 20 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife. Proceeded in death by parents, 3 sisters’ and 3 brothers’ and a grandchild.
